Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah would be playing in Ligue 2 next season after his team Evian Thonon Gaillard got relegated from the Ligue 1 after suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to Saint-Etienne on Saturday.
Mensah’s Evian has thus made a return to the second-tier after just two seasons in the French top-flight.
Evian with a game to go lies 18th on the League table with 37 points and are already demoted from the League.
Pascal Dupraz side has been able to record 11 wins, 4 draws and 22 losses after 37 matches.
Mensah made 11 appearances and scored once for Evian this season.
