PARK'S AJANAKO NAMED NATIONAL TOURNAMENT MVP; ROCHA NETS ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM SPOT

DAVENPORT, IOWA--Seidu Ajanako, a 6-4 outside hitter for Park University's national champion men's volleyball program, was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament this weekend. A freshman from Accra, Ghana, Ajanako was alto the tournament's kill leader, averaging 5.45 kills per game in the fourteen games played on Friday and Saturday. Teammate Gustavo Rocha, a junior setter from Goiania, Brazil, was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

PARK UNIVERSITY SWEEPS MISSOURI BAPTIST TO BRING HOME NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

DAVENPORT, IOWA--The Park University Pirates (28-5) celebrated a straight-game sweep of the #3 Missouri Baptist College Spartans to bring home the 2003 Tachikara/NAIA National Championship in men's volleyball Saturday night. It was the first national title in any sport throughout Park's history. The Pirates defeated the Spartans, 3-0 (30-27, 30-23, 30-26), defeating Missouri Baptist for the second time in two days. Park also downed the Spartans during Friday's pool play round. Missouri Baptist reached the final by upsetting #2 California Baptist; the Spartans came from behind to surprise the Lancers, 3-2 (20-30, 24-30, 30-27, 34-32, 15-8).
