Joshua Clottey fires a shot at Canelo

Joshua Clottey is ready to take on highly rated Mexican, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez following his impressive victory over another Mexican, Jorge Silva last Saturday in Houston, Texas, USA, a fight he took at a month's notice.

Clottey so dominated Silva an won convincingly 100-90, 100-90, 98-92 on the judges' scorecards after their ten round Super Welterweight clash on the undercard of Canelo's 3-round destruction of James Kirkland.

"I am ready for anybody," Clottey simply answered post fight questions by Ghanaian journalist, Jerry Kwame Ayensu at ringside.

Asked if he thinks Canelo will give him the fight, the former IBF Welterweight champion responded; "I don't know, it depends on him."

Canelo of course chickened out of a scheduled December 2014 fight against Clottey citing an injured hand before fighting Kirkland on Saturday.

But Clottey cited HBO, the American cable television network which telecasts Canelo's fights as unwilling to forgive him for his poor show when he fought Manny Pacquiao on the network back in 2010.

"I think HBO, everybody have to forgive me about Pacquiao fight and give me the chance to fight Canelo but they just took the fight away from me so it took me 3 to 4 months before I stopped thinking about it so I took this fight to prevent ring rust," Clottey explained at ringside moments after beating Silva.

"They shouldn't lose hope in me because the Pacquaio fight is not the end of me, they have to know that boxers always make mistakes so when you make a mistake and you come back the people have to forgive you. HBO must forgive me and give me the Canelo fight," the Grandmaster pleaded.

Meanwhile, Clottey's promoter, Joe DeGuardia of Star Boxing praised the Ghanaian's performance against Silva before taking a shot at Canelo's camp.

"Once again Joshua showed that he is one of the top Jr. Middleweights in the world today. He fought a very tough kid in Silva and once his engines started revving he displayed the skill and power that made him a world champion," DeGuardia said.

"We definitely want to fight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez as Canelo Alvarez won and I believe Josh deserves this opportunity,” he added.
