Sellas Tetteh happy with U20 progress in New Zealand

The Black Satellites coach has lauded his players for their hard work and commitment in camp ahead of the Fifa U20 World Cup in New Zealand

Ghana U-20 coach Sellas Tetteh says he has been delighted with his players' effort and attitude at the ongoing four-nation mini tournament in New Zealand.

Tetteh and his squad are participating in the competition which forms part of their preparations ahead of this year’s Fifa U20 World Cup in the same country.

The Black Satellites coach has been enjoying what he has described as a positive start to the competition.

"For the moment, the attitude is good, the players look very exciting with passion to do well for the country," he told Goal

As the team turns their sights to the tournament with just over three weeks to go for the start of the tournament, Tetteh is keen for his team to progress as a collective unit.

"We want to train well and practice more on the aspect of football. We want to put the team together in the aspect of the atmosphere, spirit, tactic and strategy.

"All the squad now are in good shape, we are still expecting some of the foreign-based players we called up to join the rest of the team but for now we are good and the players are enjoying themselves.”

With one World Cup title to their credit, every tournament brings increased expectation as the country yearns for a second trophy.

However, Sellas is not getting ahead of himself despite assuming that the opportunity to win another title is near.

The Black Satellites beat Qatar 4-2 in their first match of the 4-nation tournament. Their next game will be against New Zealand on Sunday before closing their tournament against Australia.

Ghana will be in Group B with Argentina, Panama and Austria.
