Okrah delighted with performance in Merreikh victory

Ghana international Augustine Okrah was on target when Sudanese giants Al Merreikh brushed aside Al Ahli Medani 5-0 in the Sudani Premier League on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old continued his fine form in Sudan after scoring his debut goal against Al Merghani a fortnight ago to assist twice and also register his second goal of the season.

Kenyan striker Allan Langa opened the floodgate early in the game before Okrah assisted in Langa’s second and turned from a provider to add his name on the score sheet before half time.

Jaber Abdo made the game a non-contest with his side’s fourth after Okrah dazzled two defenders before playing him through, while Langa wrapped it up in a fashionable style.

The ex-Bechem United goal machine could not hide his joy after the game.

“It was a great victory for the team and I’m very happy with my performance too. I scored a goal and assisted two,” Okrah told Goal .

“There are a lot of games to be played, both in the local league and Caf Champions League but I believe we can make it to the top in all of those competitions,” he added.

Merriekh leads the league log with 29 points and better goal difference over archrivals Al Hilal Omduman.

They are pitted against three Algerian clubs ES Setif, USM Alger and MC Eulma in the Caf Champions League Group B.

Okrah netted 16 goals last season in the Ghana Premier League to win the goal king diadem and Best Player accolade.
