Ghana Premier League postponed

The second half of the First Capital Plus Premier League has been rescheduled from 17 May to 7 June.

This decision was taken to enable the Local Back Stars to concentrate on the COSAFA Cup that will be held in South Africa in the middle of May and also enable Accra Hearts of Oak prepare adequately for their CAF Confederations Cup campaign against Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

It should be recalled that on Sunday Hearts of Oak fans attacked the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi , blaming him for the refusal of the Premier League Board to postpone their mid-week game against Ashgold which ended 1-1 , following their 0-1 home loss to Djoliba in the CAF Confederations Cup and that might have also influenced the decision of the Executive Committee to review the start of the second round of the league.

The fixture will be turned upside down to enable the clubs that met on match day 15 to face each other on match day 16.

The first round ended with the Ashgold on top of the league with 4 points separating them from both WAFA and Aduana Stars, who are placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.
