Eric Bekoe joins Great Olympics

Former Ghana international Eric Kwabena Bekoe has reached a short-term agreement with Accra Great Olympics and will be eligible to feature in the second round of the Ghana Premier League.

The former Asante Kotoko goal machine had been critical of the Ghana FA, describing the local league as 'unattractive' and 'poor', and insisting that he would never again play in such a league.

The 29-year-old striker secured a move from Berekum Chelsea to Moroccan side Kenitra Athletic Club in January but failed to command a starting role and has returned to Ghana to re-launch his career. He will join fellow returnees Richard Kingson, Dan Quaye and captain Godwin Attram.

“The GFA opened the transfer window to players who are returning from their spells outside the country so I've signed for Olympics until end of the season,” Bekoe told Adom FM.

“I'm a registered player of Olympics, so you'll see me in action when the second round commences,” he said.

Bekoe won the local league title with Asante Kotoko and the goal king diadem in the 2007-08 season with 17 goals. He signed a four-and-half-year deal with Egyptian side Petrojet in December 2008.

He made his international debut for Ghana in 2008 when he came on as a substitute against Mexico in an international friendly, earning a total of 12 caps and scoring four times.
