Kotoko beat Liberty 1-0 in SWAG cup match

An injury time header from defender Daniel Yeboah earned Kumasi Asante Kotoko a 1-0 first leg win over his former side Liberty Professionals in the SWAG Nyamitei Cup at the Kumasi Stadium on Sunday.

Yeboah who had outstanding game headed in the winner from an Aziz Ansah corner two minutes into injury time to hand Kotoko the advantage before the return leg in Accra next week.

Liberty stood up to Kotoko well throughout the match. The advantage notwithstanding Kotoko’s coach Abdul Razak might have left the stadium with a few worries about his midfield.

Liberty dominated for long periods in midfields and proved perhaps for the first time that Kotoko’s heralded midfield duo of Yssif Chibsah, Michael Asante and Edmund Owusu Ansah are human afterall. But the Dansoman based club failed to translate their dominance into goals on the afternoon.
