Lawson can win world title – Zweenes

President of the Ghana Boxing Association, Peter Zweenes is of the firm belief that Ghanaian Welterweight boxer Frederick Lawson has what it takes to win a world title in the next few years.

Though Zweenes bemoaned the lack of support from government to aid the grooming of talents to produce world titles, he is hopeful the likes of Lawson and Richard Commey have what it takes to take the world by storm.

“Ghana boxing will strive if we have the support from corporate bodies and government, we are close to winning world titles but we need more than that.

“The likes of Lawson and Commey have been awesome and I know they are close to winning the world title.

Frederick Lawson’s road to getting a crack at the world title was boosted on Thursday night after he defeated hard hitter Columbian boxer Breidis Prescott in the USA.
