Nkegbe, others for South Africa

Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe, one of Ghana’s leading para-athlete, will on February 21, participate in the 2015 Outeniqua Wheelchair Challenge in George, South Africa.

The competition is an annual event organised by Disabled Road Race Foundation and supported by the South Africa Sports Commission and South African Sports Association for Physically Disabled.

Nkegbe, who has participated in three Paralympic Games will go into the competition, with three other Ghanaian para-athletes.

Maclean Atsu Dzidzienyo, who won the 2014 edition will also participate in the competition, together with Ayishetu Seidu and Yakubu Abubakari.

Bostyo Nkegbe, told GNA Sports that the competition forms part of preparations towards the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo as well as the Paralympic Games in Brazil, next year.

“The competition is just one out of the many events we have for the year and we are going to use it as a foundation for other events.

“We have other events in the course of the year and we are convinced we shall make the time for the two major international events”.

The four athletes are expected to leave Ghana on Wednesday, February 18 for South Africa.
