Ghana has world class boxers - Ataa Eddie Pappoe

Ghanaian World Boxing Council referee / judge Ataa Eddie Pappoe is one of the optimistic international officials who believe Ghana Boxing will come up once again if sponsors and the media are going to support programmes of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA)
Speaking to yours truely in an exclusive interview on the future of Ghana sports, especially boxing, he said the future is very bright because there are so many fighters in Bukom and other parts of Accra who are hungry for success.
According to the experienced ring judge, Ghanaian boxers are capable of rising to occasions and when it matters most they can become world champions.
He named a few potential world betters like Fred Lawson, Richard Commey, Bukom Banku aka Braimah Kamoko, Joseph Agbeko, Joshua Clottey, Duke Micah, Manyo Plange, Albert Mensah, Michael Ansah, Abram Osei Bonsu, Bastie Samir, Issah Samir, Emmanuel Lartey, Octopus Dzanie and others who can make Ghana proud in the near future.
Ataa Eddie who is owner of Jelekon Pub, a popular entertainment spot at Dansoman in Accra advised the boxers to train hard and take their time in becoming champions.
" You see, most of the boxers rush to travel outside to fight and my advise is that they should watch before they step, meaning they should not take chances to slip by and make sure they capitalise on opportunities to make themselves heroes" he said.
Ataa Eddie who is also President of the African Ring Officials Association connected with the WBC said the organisation is planning to organise seminars and workshops for coaches, referees, managers and the media to sensitise them on modern trends in the sport.
The former Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Referee of the Year expressed that boxing will be lifted high again with the Mayweather vrs Pacman fight and the whole world is interested in that fight.
He urged boxing promoters in Ghana to find strategies of luring sponsors or corporate Ghana to support their promotions.
