Ashgold to deflate Kotoko's ego

AshantiGold is anticipating a repeat dose over defending champions, Asante Kotoko, as the two combatants lock horns in an expected uncompromising First Capital Plus Premier League regional derby on Wednesday.

The Porcupine Warriors have revenge on their minds as they trek to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium to meet the Miners who have in their last three meetings prevailed over the former.

Matches involving the two sides have been keenly-contested over the years, but AshGold seem to have the upper-hand as they look to consolidate their position on the log.

The Miners, last season beat Kotoko 1-0 in a similar fixture and with in-form Emmanuel Osei and Emmanuel Baffour likely to lead the onslaught, AshGold would definitely go all out to account for their opponents.

For Kotoko, another defeat within the spate of 72 hours, could spell doom for the team.

The Porcupine Warriors seem not to have recovered from their 0-1 loss to archrivals, Hearts of Oak, on Sunday, with the playing body and technical team under distress from their own supporters.

Samuel Opoku Nti, the Kotoko General Manager, sums up the difficult task ahead in an interview with the GNA Sports, saying “The Porcupine Warriors cannot afford to lose this all-important encounter”.

As to whether the visitors can overcome the odds remains to be seen and for Coach Mas-Ud Dramani, nothing less than a win could guarantee his job.

Dramani must delve deeper into the reserve of his expertise to snatch a favourable score-line to save his job, and for the playing body there is a lot to play for to appease their aggrieved supporters.
