Black Stars open AFCON camp today

The Black Stars will begin the first phase of preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations today at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra.

Head coach Avram Grant, who arrived in the country on Monday night, will hold a short training session for all players, named in his provisional 31-man squad, who are on holidays in the country.

The team will work out at 15:00 GMT before taking a break again for the New Year. They will return to action on Friday and Saturday before flying out to the Spanish City of Seville where they are expected to finalize preparations for the tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

“The team will hold a training session this (Wednesday) afternoon under the supervision of the technical handlers it’s mainly for the players who haven’t played for some time now to get proper conditioning,” Team Manager Sabahn Quaye told Ghana’s leading football portal GHANASoccernet.com

Ghana are based in Group C with favorites Algeria, South Africa and Senegal.
