Boye: I’m not ready to Captain the Stars

Black Stars defender John Boye has ruled himself out from been considered as one of the senior players to captain the team when they line up against the Cranes of Uganda in an AFCON qualifier today in Kampala.

The issue of who will captain the team arose after Asamoah Gyan failed to recover from an injury he picked up whiles training for his club in the UAE pro League.

Dede Ayew is tipped to lead the team from the dugout, but media reports earlier on stated that the bearer of the captain’s arm band was between John Boye and Ayew.

But in an exclusive interview with sportscrusader.com, Boye stated that he has no intention of leading the team since there are better alternatives around who can equally lead the team.

“The matter of who will captain the team should be put to rest, I don’t know who said I will captain the team.”

“I’m not the captain, the coaches will choose who will captain and we will support whoever is chosen to lead the team.”

“I came to meet some senior players and if they are around, I don’t think the technical team will name me as the captain, I’m not sure.”
