Cameroon optimistic CAF will squash Ghana's appeal

Cameroon say Ghana have no case after appealing a CAF ban disqualifying them from play at next year’s African Junior Championship finals in Niger.

Ghana were found guilty for fielding an overage player Isaac Twum in the first leg of their final round qualifier played in Yaounde.

This was after the continent’s football governing body sent a medical offer from Burkina Faso to rescan the player in question this month.

But Ghana’s argument has been the medical officer is not a radiologist and cannot read the MRI scan correctly.

Media officer of Cameroon’s U17 and U20 teams Albert Emoni said: “If the decision is overturned in favour of Ghana it wouldn’t change the fact that Ghana used an over-age player,” he told to Asempa FM.

“CAF may decide otherwise, sometimes issues of this nature are a bit political but I must tell you that Ghana has no chance, this is not new to us so we know what we are talking about.”
