Winful Cobbinah opens Saudi League goal account for Najran SC

Ghanaian attacker Winful Cobbinah scored his first goal for new club Al Najran SC in the Saudi Arabia Pro League as they bounced back from a home defeat in his debut game last week to record an emphatic 3-0 victory over Hajer FC on Friday afternoon.

Cobbinah who joined Najran from Accra Hearts of Oak in a three-year contract was handed again handed a starting role in his second game playing – this time deployed on the right wing after playing behind the main striker in his debut game last week.

After a 0-0 first half stalemate, Najran begun their romp at the Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Sports City Stadium as early as four minutes into the second half when 28-year-old Brazilian attacker Jandson Dos Santos found the opener.

Ten minutes later, defender Majed Al Jafari provided an assist for Cobbinah to slot home his debut league goal and Najran’s second of the game in the 59th minute but was withdrawn 21 minutes later by Azzan Mqbol.

Jandson was on hand again on the stroke of full-time with the third goal for the visitors - a win which lifts Najran to 11th position on the league log.

Najran will next host Al Shoalah in a match-day 9 fixture of the 2014/15 Saudi Pro League on Friday, October 31.
