I never applied on Tardelli’s behalf – Osei “Parma”

GFA Executive Committee member Wilfred Osei Kwaku ‘Parma’ says he never put in an application on behalf of former Italian international Marco Tardelli for the vacant Black Stars job.

Footy-ghana.com this week reported that, following several checks, Osei Kwaku had presented Tardelli’s application to the GFA, but the Tema Youth owner tells footy-ghana.com that he never did that.

“I have never submitted any application on behalf of Tardelli or any other coach and I am willing to swear on it. I have nothing to do with the selection of coaches at the GFA.”

Osei Kwaku also told footy-ghana.com that the whole situation could have come about as a result of comments he made on radio, expressing support for coaches from Serbia and Italy.

“I was on Asempa FM some time back and I made a comment to the effect that since I was a fan of the Danubian school of coaches, I would support anyone from Serbia or Italy applying to coach the Black Stars. Perhaps those comments were taken to mean that I represent Tardelli and therefore applied on his behalf, but I never did such a thing.”

The Executive Committee noted that the fact that Tardelli himself wrote to the GFA, asking for the interview to be held outside the country is testament to how involved the 60-year old World Cup winner was involved in the application process.

“As you know, Tardelli himself wrote to the GFA to have the interview in London. If he is that involved, then how could I, or anyone else for that matter, have applied on his behalf?”
