Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has been enskined as a new traditional chief and been conferred with the title Bolli Naa (Chief of Soccer in Ghana) for his immense contribution to the growth of the beautiful game in the country.

The chief of Tamale, Dakpema Naa Alhassan Dawuni, bestowed the title on Nyantakyi on Tuesday when the Black Stars paid a courtesy call on him at his palace in Sabin Gida in central Tamale.

The Black Stars went to officially announce their presence in the land ahead of Wednesday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea.

The players and officials visited the chief seeking his blessing ahead of the crucial match which is the first international competitive game for the Black Stars in Tamale. All the 22 players in camp, the technical team and management were part of the delegation that visited the traditional leader in his palace.

The contribution of the Ghana FA chief to the growth and development of the game in Ghana did not go unnoticed as the Dakpena Naa congratulated him for helping Ghana football to grow and gain international prominence.

The chief of Tamale used the opportunity to encourage him to further develop the game in Ghana.

“Since Nyantakyi took over, Ghana football has seen massive improvement. We have been to three World Cups under his reign and won the Under-20 World Cup under his reign," the Dakpena Naa told hundreds of people from the community who had gathered at the palace to see the Black Stars.

“Apart from this we have seen several improvements in many areas in our game and it is necessary for us to tap into his knowledge, experience and leadership to continue to develop football in Ghana.

“Today I am enskinning him as the Bolli Naa of Ghana which means we want him to do more to develop the game and improve the game in the country," the Dakpema Naa said.

The Ghana FA president was made to take the traditional dance to signify his acceptance of his new position as a sub-chief in charge of football development. He thanked the chief of Tamale for the warm welcome the Black Stars have received since arriving in the city on Monday.

He promised that in his new position as the Bolli Naa he will continue to take Ghana to higher heights and also ensure that other parts of the country enjoy a fair share of the national team's matches.
