Top 4 trophy is a boost for my team - Hayford

Head coach of Ashantigold Bashir Hayford, says the win of the Top 4 trophy has boosted the morale of his team adding that they are fired up for the next football season.

Ashgold were yesterday officially declared 2014 Top 4 champions after beating New Edubiase United in a coronation match at the Len Clay Sports Stadium at Obuasi, after fellow finalists Hearts of Oak pulled out due to some misunderstandings between them and the organizers of the event GHALCA.

But Coach Bashir Hayford could care less, adding that he sees it as a blessing in disguise.

“Like I said last time, we had wanted to beat them to confirm our dominance in the competition, but they pulled out. But that for me is not a worry because we are the 2014 Top champions and that is all that matters”, the coach mentioned to sportscrusader.com.

The confident coach says the win has infused a new lease of life into his team; an action he believes will help them in the coming season.

“There is something about winning a trophy and that adds something good to a team and I could see that in my team against New Edubiase.

The players are now confident because if you look at our other three opponents, they are not that easy, so to achieve this at their disposal is a good thing for us because it will boost their morale ahead of next season.”
