Emmanuel Adebayor salutes Asamoah Gyan

Emmanuel Adebayor has praised the mental fortitude of striker Asamoah Gyan who scored to help Ghana secure a vital win over Togo in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Wednesday.

The Black Stars captain led from the front to head in Ghana’s equalizer after Floyd Ayite had given Togo the lead before their home fans in Lome.

Gyan’s overall display was highly impressive and even played a part in the winning goal scored by Christian Atsu.

The Al Ain ace has had to deal with several off the field issues following the disappearance of his musician friend, Castro.

The Hiplife star remains missing two months after going on a holiday trip with the Ghana captain. Gyan has been blamed by sections of the Ghanaian public of Castro’s disappearance with some even alluding to the vicious claim the Black Stars captain had ‘sacrificed’ his friend for his own gains.

It was this line of thinking that led Kumasi-based journalist Daniel Kenu to ask an inappropriate question along similar lines in a press meeting organized by the Ghana FA.

Kenu claims he was later on attacked by the brother of Asamoah Gyan, Baffour and his gang and is now in court pressing charges of assault against the ex Ghana striker.

But the record Ghana scorer managed to put behind all these teething problems to play a key role in handing the Black Stars the much needed win.

His heroic exploits on Wednesday has drawn the respect and admiration of Togo captain Emmanuel Adebayor.

“Look at the problems Asamoah Gyan and his family are going through,” the Tottenham Hotspurs hitman said. “People are saying a lot of things they don’t know about and it’s sad.

“We all like Castro and we are all praying for him to come back.

“So I think it’s very bad what people are saying about Asamoah Gyan.

“Asamoah Gyan is one of the best players in Africa and he showed it today [Wednesday] by scoring a great goal for his country.”
