Commey aims at IBF title this year

Commonwealth Title holder, Richard Commey, is relishing fighting current IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez.

The ABU lightweight and IBF Continental African Lightweight title holder is training feverishly at the Bronx Gym ahead of any potential bout.

If an agreement is reached between his outfit and the current IBF lightweight holder’s camp, a bout could be arranged as early as November, according to his trainer, Carl Lokko.

“Currently we have not received any offer from any opponent wanting to fight us for the commonwealth title, remember, we fought and won it some few weeks ago, those fighters are cowards and they don’t want to fight us, they know how difficult my boxer is.

“In boxing you cannot train for the training sake, you need to get some fight as soon as possible, otherwise your boxer will be rusty so we are talking to promoters and if a deal is reached, why not, we will fight”.

“I’m certain that the current IBF lightweight holder is our target now, and we are doing everything possible to get that bout as early as December”.

The “Azonto” boxer is feared for his ferocious jabs, silky punches and amazing work rate, making him undefeated in 17 professional fights.
