Owusu-Afari wins Tema Captain's Prize

Nana Owusu-Afari beat Duffour Poku and Kofi Acquaah Harrison on countback after they had all scored 39 points, to win the 2002 Tema Country Golf Club Captain's Prize competition played at Tema on Saturday.

K.Boakye also beat Sammy Adetola and Paul Amenyo on countback to take the fourth position after they had all scored 38 points.

Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong won the Ladies event with 40 points, Esther Antwi was second with 39 points, while Florence Majekodunmi took the third position with 38 points, beating Mona Captan, Vestche Bempong and Florence Etwi-Barima on countback.

The one-day 18-hole stableford competition opened to amateur members of Achimota, Celebrity, Tema and Windy Bay Golf Clubs, was sponsored by Mr John Cobbina, out-going captain of the Tema Country Golf Club.

Mr John Cobbina thanked the members of the club for the support he has enjoyed from them since he assumed office as captain some two years ago.

He said even though he will be no more captain, he will still use his rich experience to help develop the sport.
