Promoted Great Olympic receive GHC 100,000 from shareholders Global Village

Global Village has made their first payments towards the acquisition of 40 percent shares in newly promoted Ghana Premier League club Great Olympics.

The marketing and media conglomerate presented a cheque of GHS 100,000 to the board of Great Olympics at a ceremony held at the club’s new secretariat at Ridge on Wednesday.

The partnership sees Global Village acquire 40 percent shares in the Accra-based side with the club retaining the majority 60 percent shares.

The deal sees Olympics benefit from the handing over of an official club secretariat and house at Ridge. OMP, one of the firms under Global Village will also offer its expertise as the exclusive marketing agency for the club.

Metro TV, another company under Global Village will also be offering thorough coverage and promotion of all Olympic’ home matches.

Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga who was a special guest at the even hailed the new partnership and urged Ghanaian clubs to seek such relationships in order to offer better conditions of services to its employees especially players.

“I am very delighted to be a witness to this share acquisition,” he said.

“With such a relationship, there is the expectation that the conditions of services of employees of the club – key amongst them being players – will be well catered for.

“We hope and encourage more of such relationships to ensure that the growth of the domestic game sees a significant improvement.”
