Hearts confirm non-renewal of coach Polo's contract

The board of former Ghanaian Champions Accra Hearts of Oak has informed Coach Mohammed Polo of their decision not to extend his stay at the club after his contract ended at the end of the season, footy-Ghana.com has confirmed.

Polo, a club legend replaced former coach David Duncan in November 2013 on a six-month contract subject to review at the end of the season.

With the season ending on June 8, the club’s board officially communicated their decision to him with a reminder on Tuesday thanking him for his work for the club during the period.

“He had a mandate up to the end of the season and the board just reminded him that as per the terms of engagement, the relationship came to an end when the season ended so we just thanked him for what he has done and wished him well,” Hearts of Oak Public Relations Officer Muheeb Saeed confirmed to footy-Ghana.com

During his stay, Polo led Hearts of Oak to 6 victories, 4 drawn games and 7 defeats in 17 league games – landing the Phobians at third position on the 16-team 2013/14 First Capital Plus Premier League table as well as a CAF Confederation Cup slot.
