World Cup Seminar for Media in Ashanti Region

A one day seminar designed to address issues bothering on the Brazil 20 14 World Cup has been held for the media in the northern sector of the country at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The pre-World Cup seminar also touched on the socio-economic benefits of World Cup competitions to participating countries
Arranged by Mamedia Ventures, the event drew close to 30 media practitioners from the Northern sector.
Renowned sports journalist Sometimer Otuo Acheampong outlined key problems the media encounter at major sporting competitions like securing accreditation, accommodation, language problems, among others.
He made a passionate appeal to government to assist the media regarding sponsorship for major sporting events.
CEO of Mamedia ventures Nii Maale-Adsei also touched on the importance of rights, licensing and the value of the World Cup to World Football governing body, FIFA.
He also touched on the MTN Go Rio and ‘Nkomode’ Promotions.
Ashanti Region Regional Sports Officer Saka Acquaye commended the organizers, Mamedia for putting the seminar together for the media in the region saying, “ I commended the organizers for arranging this seminar, such programs are mostly held in the capital, Accra to the neglect of the northern sector folks.”
Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC) addressed the socio economic benefits Ghana stand to gain by her participation in the World. It pledged to use the Black Stars brand as a vehicle to sell Ghana.
The seminar was part of activities put together to climax the 2014 MTN Ashantifest; an annual event designed to celebrate the people of Ashanti .
