Kotoko reach FA Cup final

Asante Kotoko beat city-rivals King Faisal 2-0 in Kumasi on Sunday to reach the MTN FA Cup final and move a step closer to potentially clinching a double this season.

The victory secured for Kotoko a third Cup final in recent seasons.

Having given their quest for a double a major boost after annexing the Premier League title last Wednesday, the Porcupine Warriors moved on to book a final date with Inter Allies on June 8 at the Accra Stadium.

And after 37 minutes at the Baba Yara Stadium, they had completed the job with Faisal failing to pose any trouble to them.

Goals from Abdul Yusif Aziz and Seidu Bancey set up a dream final for Kotoko, who have on two occasions lost out in the final of the Cup competition in the last three seasons.

Yusif Aziz opened the scoring after 24 minutes when he rose to power in a header after from a Prince Baffoe cross.

Thirteen minutes after the opener, Bancey angled a shot into the roof of the net from close range to give Didi Dramani's side a comfortable two-nil lead.

Bancey could have made it three in the second half but his header crashed into the crossbar before it was hooked away by a King Faisal defender.

The defeat ends King Faisal's hopes of silverware as they will now need to concentrate on their battle to survive relegation in the League.
