Supersport donated ring arrives Wednesday

Despite reported threats by two boxers to boycott the fight if their purse is not increased to Ghc 50,000 each, the stage has now certainly been set for Thursday May 15 at the Accra Sports Stadium for the much heralded Bukom Banku versus Ayitey Powers mega fight promoted by Box Office Sports Promotions.

The latest good news for Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye and his outfit ahead of the big fight is the impending arrival in the country on Wednesday, of the modern ring the boxers will fight in.

Donated by DSTV’s Supersport which will televise the fight to an expected audience of over 4 million viewers across Africa, the ring is mounted to suit world standards and is envisioned to upgrade the standards of boxing tournaments in this country.

“The ring for the bout will arrive on Wednesday May 7, 2014 at Afgo Accra Airport and both boxers will be there to inspect the ring on arrival,” Ntiamoah Boakye told Allsports.com.gh.

“It’s a professional ring that can take in any big fight anywhere in the world," said Cyril Sunkwa-Mills, Multichoice Ghana General Manager.

"It’s our little contribution to Ghanaian boxing and with it Ghana can now host big world title fights anytime and you are assured of Supersport’s continued support,” Mr. Sunkwa Mills explained.
