Ashanti Gold breaks Medeama

An early Awudu Nafiu goal was enough to fetch all three points for Ashanti Gold when they hosted Medeama SC in Obuasi in an outstanding First Capital Plus Premier League Week 25 encounter on Sunday afternoon.

Playing in front of their teaming fans at their favourite Len Clay Stadium, Ashanti Gold left nothing to chance as they went in search of a victory that was sure to boost their mid-table standing on the league table.

And it would take just twelve minutes to find a goal that would catapult them from their previous eleventh position to a current sixth. Defender Awudu Nafiu’s shot proved too strong for the Medeama goalkeeper to grab the only goal of the match but Nafiu would soon be replaced by Kadiri Mohammed after picking an injury.

Medeama’s second loss, after last week’s defeat to Aduana, would leave them on the fourteenth position ahead of their last two outstanding league fixtures against Liberty at home and Heart of Lions in Kpando.
