Medeama vow to finish off Zesco in Conf. Cup

ZESCO United’s opponent in the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup second round return leg, Medeama Sports Club of Ghana have vowed to eliminate the Zambian side from the competition.

Medeama, who are carrying a 2-0 lead from the first leg, arrived in Ndola yesterday ahead of Sunday’s clash and are confident of ending Zesco’s dream of progressing to the next stage of the tournament when the two sides clash at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Club communications manager Tony Nkurumah Boateng said in an interview that the Ghanaian side was in the country to complete the job they started at home.

Boateng said Zesco would be under pressure and that Medeama has not come to Zambia to defend the two goals but wants to score an away goal as well.

“For us we need to qualify and the strategy is to score an away goal because they have two goals to clear, they will come at us attacking.

“We don’t care about the score line because all we want is to qualify and looking at Zesco, they are good defensively but slow on counter attacks.

Zesco is under pressure because when we score, it will worsen their plight so they need to attack and score and the more they attack, the more they expose themselves,” he said.

And team captain Joseph Zutah said Zesco is a strong team but that Medeama players are fully prepared to get a positive result on Sunday.
