Kingson suffers defeat in first match

Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson was in excellent shape in his maiden appearance for Turkish side Balikesirspor but they ended up losing 1-0 to Denizlispor on Monday night.

His good performance in the match shows that the goalkeeper is determined to fight for place in coach Kwesi Appiah’s squad for the World Cup in June.

Kingson was making his first appearance for Balikesirspor since joining them from Cypriot side earlier this month.

He made nine crucial saves in the match but was unable to stop Baris Orucu’s free-kick in the 47th minute at the edge of the box which left the Ghanaian stranded.

However, his performance on the night will delight coach Appiah who is seeking more goalkeeping options for the Black Stars.

Kingson has vowed to make Ghana’s squad to the World Cup even though there are young goalkeepers in the squad who are hungry for success.
