CHAN 2014: 'We don't fear anyone' - Yahaya

Yahaya Mohammed has assured Ghanaians of the Black Stars preparedness to fly high the flag of Ghana in the ongoing African Nations Championship in South Africa, ahead of their quarter-final clash with DR Congo on Sunday evening.

The Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder who returns to the side after missing the last group match against Ethiopia due to suspension reiterated the Stars battle-readiness for Sunday’s encounter in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel fm.

"There is nothing to fear. We are preparing very well in order to win the match for ourselves and for our nation. There will definitely be some pressure on us because we are humans. We play in a very tough league and with our level of advancement as players of the team, we should be able to handle the pressure,” he said.

The former OGC Nice player who was adjudged the man of the match in the 1-1 drawn game with Libya also revealed the Stars wish to lift the trophy for the first time since the competition's inception in 2009.

“That is our main aim and we are still on course. We train very hard and we will do everything to lift the trophy with God on our side.”

Sunday’s match will be the third meeting between the two sides at a CHAN tournament. Ghana, after winning the opening match between the two sides in the maiden edition by 3-0, lost 2-0 when the two sides met again in the finals of the 2009 edition in Cote d’Ivoire.
