GHANA’S ABDUL RAZAK UMAR WINS BEST YOUNGEST IN STAGE1

Ghana’s Abdul Razak Umar split past native names in the likes of Bashiru Konte of the ivory coast,Bikienga Salfo of Burkina Faso,and west African hero Rasmane Ouedrago of Burkina Faso to place an astonishing 7th out of 72 riders in a time of 3hrs,25mins,20secs to win the youngest rider as well as the best fighter in the first stage of the ECOWAS int.cycling tour 2013 that rolled from Lagos to cotonou over a distance of 111km.

According to a report sent by Dennis Moore, Communications Director of the Ghana Cycling Federation, this years tour has 14 West African cyclists participating with over 72 riders.

Right from the signal of the flag off, team Ghana plunged into livid action in search of glory which had eluded them in the previous editions.

In-form roller and inarguably Ghana’s finest rider Samuel Anim powered to sweet second position in a time of 3hrs, 25mins,27secs to add to his finest bite of performance at this year’s national cowbell tour of Ghana.

Indeed, for the general stage classifications the Ivory Coast leads the log sheet with 30 points in the person of Ouatarra Bolodugui from the Ivory Coast who came ahead of Ghana Samuel Anim. As many as four Ghanaian cyclists are located in the first 20stage classifications—a feat which deserves plaudit. Team Ghana comprised of 6 cyclists—Samuel Anim of Young Stars,Nuru Pardie Alhassan of Die Hard,Victor Cudjoe of all Stars,Isaac Sackey of Young Stars,Godwin Dzah of All Stars and debutant young sensation Abdul Razak Umar of Die Hard Cycling Club.

The second stage will roll from the city of Cotonou in Benin to Lome in Togo.

The entire entourage of cyclists and officials will then be bused onwards from Cotonou to Accra where they will pass the night before proceeding to the Ivory Coast.
