GFA reveals tribute plans for Emmanuel Quarshie

The Ghana Football Association has directed all Premier League clubs and match officials to wear black armbands on Saturday, 9th November and Sunday, 10th November, 2013 during the Match Day 11 round of league matches.

A minute’s silence will also be observed at all match venues before kick off as a mark of respect to the departed national team skipper who led the Black Stars to win the 1982 African Cup of Nations in Libya.

This move is meant to honour the late Black Stars captain, Emmanuel Quarshie, who died recently after battling illness.

“The Ghana football Association wishes to announce with deep sorrow the death of Emmanuel Quarshie, a great footballer, coach and once captain of the Black Stars”, the GFA said in the media release.

Quarshie will be buried this weekend.
