Coach Sarpong quits Aduana Stars

The head coach of Ghana top-flight side Aduana Stars, JE Sarpong, has stepped down after his side's 1-1 drawn game against Ashantigold on Wednesday.

Fans of the Dormaa-based side called for his exit after their league game in mid-week at the Agyeman Badu Stadium.

The former Liberty Professionals trainer said the insults from the fans were too much for him to tolerate and fears for his life, thus his decision to quit.

Coach Sarpong, who was appointed at the beginning of the season on a one year contract, has been in-charge of the 2010 Ghana Premier League champions’ first eight games of the 2013-14 season, with the team occupying the 9th position on the log with 11 points.

Earlier, he told GBC Sports, that he is waiting for the life patron of the club, who is travelled to return home to communicate his decision to him.

“What I have realised here [Dormaa-Ahenkro] is that anytime you win a match they insult you, when you draw they will insult you and when you lose they will insult you. Insulting you from your father to your grandfather and mother and so many things,” the veteran coach said.

“So I am saying that if I am the problem of Aduana Stars then I will have to go and have my peace because I will not stand at a place of death because of one team. I am waiting for the Chief who is the life patron of the club to come down. He is travelled and I will tell him my peace of mind and leave back to Accra,” Sarpong added.
