Randy Abbey offered majority shares in Heart of Lions

Contrary to reports that Randy Abbey has been appointed Managing Director of the Kpando-based club, close confidants to the former Ghana FA Spokesperson have rubbished the assertions that his visit to Heart of Lions' training grounds last Thursday was his introduction to the team by current managers.

“Randy’s visit of Lions at training was nothing close to the claim that he was being introduced to the technical team and players as new managing director. There’s nothing of such nature currently I can confirm he has not taken any position at Lions as such,” a close source to the member of the Executive Committee of the Ghana FA denied.

The source then explains to Footy-Ghana what informed Randy Abbey’s presence at the club’s Legon training grounds.

“He’s had some approaches from Heart of Lions through a third party to come and invest in the club for some time now so studies and negotiations have been ongoing.

His presence at the club was only one of feasibility studies he is undertaking with the help of his advisers. Nothing concrete has come out of it,” the source revealed.

Abbey who currently is the chairman of the Referees’ Appointment Committee of the Ghana Football Association has carved for himself a niche as an astute administrator having served at continental champions Accra Hearts of Oak and the then Kessben FC (now Medeama SC).
