GFA will appeal High Court ruling - Sory

The lead counsel for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in the Eastern Regional Election court case, Thaddeus Sory, has stated emphatically that the ruling body in the country will appeal against an Accra High Court decision to overturn the election results of the Eastern Regional Football Association election by reinstating Nana Budu as the Chairman of the Association.

An Accra High Court on Thursday morning overturned the election results in the Eastern Region in favor of Nana Budu who challenged A.A Lawal in the elections.

Speaking to Accra-based Happy FM, Thaddeus Sory indicated that the GFA will appeal the ruling because the election was conducted in a peaceful and legal manner.

He said: “We will definitely appeal the ruling by the High court. I don’t know why the judge ruled like this. I am so sad today because a court and its judge do not rule like that and it is highly unfair.

“We did the elections and Nana Budu even campaigned on that fateful day, so what is all this? If they are saying the congress failed to render the accounts on time before conducting the elections, that argument is neither here nor there. We will appeal this case and I know we all know Lawal is the legitimate winner of the elections”.

Meanwhile, Justice Erasmus Gyinaye, who was the Judge in, has fined the Ghana Football Association GH¢30,000 and has again ordered the GFA to swear Nana Budu in as the new Chairman of the Eastern Regional RFA Chairman.
