MTN make cash donation to Medeama

Giant telecommunication network MTN fulfilled their pledge by presenting their cash donation to FA Cup winners Medeama at a short but impressive ceremony in Accra on Friday.

The Mauves and Yellows were presented with $25,000 (50,000 Ghana Cedis) cheque to boost their finances ahead of their maiden appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup next year.

They have already received $15,000 as a reward for winning the FA Cup title, making them $40,000 richer.

The ceremony which took place at the company’s Ridge headquarters on Friday was attended by outgoing MTN Chief Executive Michael Ikpoki, a member of the FA Cup committee Kurt Okraku, officials of Medeama and players as well as the media.

Outgoing MTN chief Ikpoki charged the Tarkwa-based side to go all out and make a huge impact in their debut appearance in the Africa inter-club competition.

“I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Medeama once again for winning the MTN FA Cup. I will urge them to keep up the good fight,” Ikpoki said.

“We in MTN believe in football and that’s why we have injected so much to the running of the game in Ghana.

“I am leaving but I am hopeful that the one who takes over from me will continue with the drive and continue to support the game.

Medeama beat Kotoko 1-0 to win the FA Cup title at the Accra sports stadium two weeks ago.
