Otoo: Stars call-up boosted my confidence

Accra Hearts of Oak striker Mahatma Otoo has revealed his short spell with the Black Stars has improved his confidence level as well as his output on the field of play.

The Phobian received call-ups from head coach Kwesi Appiah for his consistent performance in the just ended Ghana Premier League.

The 2012 Sports Writers Association of Ghana Premiership Player of the Year said the experience he has acquired at the national level is a reflection of his performance this season.

"I want to say a big thank you to the technical team of the Black Stars who gave me the opportunity to be part of the Ghana squad," Otoo told Goal Ghana.

"It has been a real good experience, getting to learn from players like Sulley Muntari and also from the footsteps of Asamoah Gyan has really improved my play."

He added: "My confidence level has shot up because training with such players gives you the believe you are doing the right thing so I will continue to work hard and earn a regular place in the team but it all depends on the coach."

Otoo single-handedly led the Phobians to fifth place in the 2012-13 Ghana Premier League season as top scorer with 20 goals.

He was also the star man when Hearts of Oak defeated Medeama SC 2-0 to win the 2013 President’s Cup in Accra on Monday scoring a double taking his goal tally to 24 goals this season.
