Princesses coach Robert Sackey sacked

The technical hierarchy of the Black Princesses has witnessed a change in direction after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) decided to part ways with head coach, Robert Sackey.

The United States-based Sackey, according to information pieced together by GNA Sports will not have a further bit of the cherry after the GFA officially confirmed their disinterest in his services following the expiration of his two-year mandate.

A source within the GFA said Sackey, who led the Princesses to an unimpressive outing at the last edition of the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup in Japan, has been informed of his fate.

The source hinted Sackey’s deputy; Ben Fokuo is likely to follow his boss through the exit following the association’s decision to introduce fresh faces to the team that previously remained the hope for the women’s game.

The GFA according to the source has fashioned out a plan to clear the financial obligations due Sackey and Fokuo.

Also expected to lose his job is Black Queens trainer, James Kuuku Dadzie. The former Princesses trainer, according to the sources remains unpopular despite previously making the U-20 team attractive.

Dadzie was at the helm when the Queens failed to pick a slot for the last African Women Championship (AWC) hosted in Equatorial Guinea. It was the first time, the Queens previously ranked second best to Nigeria had failed to reach the final of the flagship continental women’s championship since its inception in 1998.
