Accra Sports Stadium pitch returns to its green state

Accra, April 5, GNA – The football pitch at the Accra Sports Stadium, has been restored to its original green state after months of yellowish outlook. The pitch in recent times was in a dilapidating condition as the grass dried up due to acute water shortage in the Greater Accra Region.

Frank Boahene, Chief Executive of Green Grass Technology (GGT) told the GNA Sports that, they managed to restore the pitch to its green state following the decision of the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to raise funds for the purchase of water for the maintenance of the pitch. He commended the two bodies for taking steps to restore the pitch to its original form adding that, it is now ready to host local and international matches.

According to Mr Boahene, his outfit also took steps to re-seed and re-fertilise the pitch and these have also contributed to the present outlook of the pitch.

He said there was the need to ensure regular supply of water at the stadium,

to enable them to maintain the pitch on regular basis to keep it good shape.

Green Grass Technology (GGT) has since 2008 handled the management of football pitches in the country.
