Boakye-Yiadom, Annan ruled out of DR Congo match

Footy-ghana.com can exclusively reveal that striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom and midfielder Anthony Annan and will not play any part in Ghana’s opening 2013 African Nations Cup clash against DR Congo on Sunday.

According to our sources in South Africa, both players are being rested by the technical team as they recover from various injuries.

Annan got an ankle injury during Ghana’s 3-0 friendly win over Egypt whilst Boakye-Yiadom sprained his right ankle during a training session in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Boakye-Yiadom has thus not been involved in ball work since the team arrived in South Africa. He has only been involved in jogging sessions.

Annan is closing in on full fitness but the technical team has taken a decision to get both him and Boakye Yiadom fully fit for Ghana’s second match against Mali on Thursday.
