27 Invited to Stars Camp

Twenty-seven locally based players of the Black Stars would commence a week long training exercise in Accra under new coach, Millan Zivadinovic, on Monday 5th August.

The bulk of the players called-up are from Liberty Professionals, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko. They are expected to be released on Thursday to join their respective clubs for the weekend’s premiership matches.

For the first time, the team would be camped at the University of Ghana, Legon. Accra Hearts of Oak have two of their goalkeepers; Sammy Adjei and James Nanor, together with Charles Taylor and Edmund Copson.

From the camp of Liberty Professionals are Daniel Yeboah, Emmanuel Pappoe, Jonathan Quartey, John Paintsil and Alfred Nii Larbi Darko. The Asante Kotoko quartet are goalkeeper Osei Boateng, Joe Hendricks, Hamza Mohammed and Nana Arhin-Duah.

Others are Akerem Weah, Agbadu Kasami and Alex Kyeremanteng all of Real Tamale United, Felix Yeboah and Mutalim Abdul both of Hasaacas, Princeton Owusu-Ansah and Solomon Laryea of Goldfields and Great Olympics’ Paa Joe Kumah.

The rest are Asare Nyarko of Okwawu United, B.A. United’s goalkeeper, Issac Amoako, Edward Sosu of Power FC and the King Faisal’s duo of Iddrisu Yahaya and Stephen Debrah.

The inclusion of Goldfields’ Princeton Owusu-Ansah clearly raises questions about the criteria used for the selection.

The player has been inactive this season having failed to decide on a new club before the registration deadline elapsed.
