Bekoe wants peace

as Ghana go to the polls Friday

Berekum Chelsea striker Eric Bekoe has openly urged Ghanaians to eschew mischief and preach tolerance as the nation go into polls on Friday to elect a new President.

The nation is still reeling from the untimely death of ex-President John Atta Mills on the seat less than six months to the 2012 general elections which comes alive on Friday with stand-gap President, John Mahama up against Nana Akufo-Addo for the right of Ghanaians to lead the country for the next four years.

And former Ghana goal king, Bekoe who was playing for Petrojet in the Egyptian Premier League when the North African country was rocked by political instability that led to violent clashes and deaths before former President Hosni Mubarak was booted out of power, says the experience was not a pleasant one. The former Kotoko hitman is consequently pleading with all to exercise patience and accept the results that are announced and let’s move Ghana forward.

“In life you never cherish what you have unless you lose it. I am a witness of what happened in Egypt and for other examples, see what happened to Libya, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Syria, Liberia, Uganda and others. “In this upcoming elections, never let someone use you as a tool for war after he has flown his family out of the country,” Bekoe has cautioned his countrymen.

The Chelsea striker continued: “Remember Mother Ghana is a shelter to all nations in heaven and on earth.

“On that d-day after voting just go home in peace and sleep, don't waste your precious time on any argument because little drops of water make a mighty ocean.

“I know 90% of Ghanaians are God-fearing people. May God help us all.”
