Laryea not ready for a Black Stars recall - Didi

Asante Kotoko coach Mas-Ud Dramani has warned against calls to have experienced Hearts of Oak winger Laryea Kingston recalled in the Black Stars based on his ‘impressive’ display in last Sunday’s goalless draw game between the arch rivals.

Laryea who has been out of the national team set-up since 2010 has received some backing by many including veteran trainer J.E Sarpong for a sensational recall into the Ghana national team as the country gets set for preparations towards the Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off in South Africa on January 19, 2013.

However, Asante Kotoko coach Dramani who is also a coaching instructor under the technical directorate of the Ghana Football Association has cooled down calls to have Laryea back into the national camp.

“Many have asked me that some coaches are calling for Laryea to be introduced into the Black Stars. I say we should be serious with our football. We need to be really serious about our football.

You ask yourself: What positive football did he play? Football has gone pass the level where I play to myself okay!. How many final passes did he give?,” Dramani quipped.

Didi, as he is affectionately called also noted the positives of Laryea in last Sunday’s game but advised Laryea needs to up his conditioning.

“He had some moments of individual brilliance, of course yes. Technically, he is a good player but he needs to have the conditioning to be able to play with the team; moving forward and then moving back as the team loses possession.”

The Super clash was Laryea Kingston's first start in 7 matches this season after a cameo performance in the previous match-day's 3-2 home win over Real Tamale United. He missed the first five games through suspension handed by his club before the start of the season.
