Faisal coach blames hard luck for Ashgold defeat

The head coach of Kumasi based King Faisal, Stephen Abugri has
expressed his satisfaction over his side’s general performance against
Ashgold in spite of their loss on match day 5 of the Glo premier league
over the weekend.

King Faisal paid dearly for conceding a penalty on
50 minutes which was converted by Mohammed Yakubu to earn three points for
Ashgold, adding up for his fourth goal of the season.
Abugri who guided King Faisal back to the elite
division from the Division One League, said his boys played according to
his game plan and tactics but that, they were not lucky to grind out the
result.

“I’m very happy even though I lost; it was due to hard luck
because if you look at the way the team played on the field, you will be impressed,”
Abugri told URA Radio in Bolgatanga.
He continued: “In football sometime, you need luck to be
able to turn your performance to a win and that was lacking in the team’s
game against Ashgold. But hopefully, if we continue playing our normal
game and work very hard, the luck will assuredly come our way in our remaining
matches.”
Meanwhile King Faisal stay at home to engage Cape Coast Ebusua
Dwarfs on match day 6. Abugri’s side currently sit 6th on the league
ladder on 7 points, 6 adrift of league leaders Medeama SC.
But the man who was adjudged the best coach in the Upper East
Region’s Division Two League in 2010 says he is looking forward to achieve a
top 8 finish at the end of the 2011/12 season.
“I’m targeting a realistic position which is the top 8. As
you know we are just coming back from the Division One League and we are
looking at a modest position. Therefore, I think the top 8 will be the position
we should be aiming at,” Abugri stated.
