Kwesi Appiah should have his squad -Odartey

Former Black Stars playmaker, Nii Odartey Lamptey believes national team coach Kwesi Appiah has experimented enough and should be ready to name his best 23 for the Nations’ Cup bid, even today.

Expressing his delight about the convincing result against Malawi, Odartey congratulated his former international teammate whilst also reposing a massive dose of confidence in Appiah to go on and win Ghana’s first silverware at senior level for over three decades.

“Congratulations to the Black Stars especially Kwesi Appiah and Maxwell Konadu. A lot of people did not give them a chance of even qualifying for the World Cup so to win this tie home and away is excellent and I’m happy for them especially Kwesi Appiah,” Odartey told 90 MINUTES. The former Anderlecht and Aston Villa star continued: “I know where he came from, since 1992 he has been a close friend. Our prayers and support are with him, he has been there done it all, been assistant. He’s learnt a lot and this is the time for him to be in charge,” Nii Lamptey however added: “The playing body all did very well and must also be congratulated for a good job done.

“You can see that since he took over, Kwesi has not started with the same players before, he’s changing them constantly. He’s doing something, he’s looking for a 23 man squad that can defend the flag of mother Ghana. “Even now, I’m sure he should be able to give his 23-man squad because I think he has had enough look during the qualifiers. And I’m sure the boys will play for him, they should die for him.”
