Technical team did not recommend Bekoe's move to Chelsea

Berekum Chelsea’s technical team did not recommend the acquisition of striker Eric Bekoe according to assistant coach Annoh Walker.

The 25-year-old signed a two-year contract to join the 2010 Premier League champions as a free agent.

Bekoe was set to return to former club Asante Kotoko following the termination of his contract with Egyptian club Petrojet.

But disputes over terms of his contract saw his move to Kotoko collapse at the last minute.

The 2008 Ghana Premier League Goal King has now joined Chelsea but Walker says he knew nothing of the move though he is ready to work with the player.

“We as a technical team gave no recommendation to sign Bekoe,” he told Accra-based Hot FM.

“But every coach would like to work with a good player so I am prepared to work with him.

“If he (Bekoe) proves his fitness in training then of course he will play.”

Bekoe’s move is seen by many as a direct replacement for striker Emmanuel Clottey who has been sold to Tunisian club Esperence.
