Jordan Ayew ready for boo chants

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew says he is not afraid of intense criticisms to come his way if he fails to deliver against Malawi on Saturday.

The Black Stars need a massive win over the Flames in the first leg of the ultimate 2013 Nations Cup qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The resounding win is needed to ensure Ghana’s trip to Blantyre for the second leg encounter next month is made a mere formality.

The appetite for a big win on Saturday could however put the team under intense pressure especially in Accra where the fans are perceived to be unfriendly to the Black Stars when the going gets tough.

Such a situation could lead to hasty play on the path of the Black Stars which could result in several missed opportunities in front of goal against Malawi – which will invariably ignite boo chants.

But striker Jordan Ayew says as a professional player, he should be able to come to terms when met with such hostility.

“In football there are ups and downs, so maybe on Saturday I will not have a good game but the team is going to win and for me that is more important,” he said.

“They can say anything they want to say but I know what I am capable of doing, this is football.

“Even Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi get insults every now and then so there is no problem about that at all.”
