The dark cloud hovering over GHA’s ability to host the Hockey World League round 1 is gradually clearing, to make way for GHA to host the tournament which is scheduled for September 7-9, 2012.
The tournament which is introduced to give more playing opportunities to hockey playing nations and eases their ranking also replaces the World Cup, Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games qualifiers from 2014. During this tournament three countries Ghana, Egypt and Nigeria will wrestle each other for the sole place in both male and female categories to participate in Round 2 of the tournament in 2013.
Officials are expected from the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and Africa Hockey Federation (AfHF) the FIH competitions committee will have a meeting at the weekend and seize the opportunity to observe the tournament.
The Umpires Manager, Clive a seasoned umpire from South Africa will take some National and Continental umpires through a two day training for knowledge and skill update.
