Degerfors to sign William Amamoo

Swedish club Degerfors are in talks with a former Ghana goalkeeper William Amamoo to sign for them for the new season.

The second-tier side contacted the award-winning Ghanaian last line of defense following the desire of its first choice keeper Brian Edwards to leave the club.

The 27-year-old west African told Goal.com Ghana he has been training with the club for some time now and has expressed his eagerness to ink a deal for the new season.

Last time William Amamoo featured for Ghana, he conceded 3 quick goals in about 30 minutes against Japan in a friendly, he has since been dropped by the national team.

“They have contacted me and we are still in discussion,” Amamoo said. “There is nothing concrete yet, but it looks as if I’ll be playing a role when the new season begins.”

The coach of the Superettan side Patrick Werner has been impressed with Amamoo’s output during the pre-season training. He is quoted by VF.se to have said: “We would be stupid if we would not be interested in him when he lives so close.”

“He has trained with us since the break started… we have not decided on him yet because all depends on how Edwards does.”

Amamoo last played for Maltese side Floriana FC and helped them to the Europa League qualifying stage.
